A spokesman on the Agency’s Facebook site revealed that the controversial ‘two licence for three or four rods’ ruling that currently forces keen carpers, pikers and big fish anglers to fork out £54 instead of just £27 is under review.
Although many anglers believe the rod licence represents good value for money and the price has been static for several seasons and for the 2014/15 year will again be £27, there has been growing unrest over the ‘double permit tax’.
Such is the belief for change that a Facebook page dedicated to campaign for a rule amendment has been started.
The page 3 rods=1 licence currently has 13,923 ‘likes’.
“We are currently consulting on the licence structure, including options around three rods, and and changes are likely to come into effect in 2016,” said an EA spokesman.
