There is another great Rowley Roadshow on the cards on Thursday 21st March 2019, with the two of the most experienced and best speakers on the circuit Tom Pickering and Des Taylor.

The show is open to members and non members, all will be made welcome to share yet another great night of fishing genius and banter.

Tom Pickering has agreed to base his talk for the evening around river bolo and waggler fishing for chub and barbel plus river whip fishing for silvers.

Illegal fishing costs 3 men more than £1,800

Environment Agency fisheries bailiffs dealing with the illegally caught fish

Three men were fined and ordered to pay costs totalling more than £1,800 after they were caught fishing illegally in Tewkesbury.

Virginijus Narutis, 50, of Foden Road, Birmingham, and 51-year-old Jevgenijs Rumjaceus,

of Dora Street, Walsall, were both charged with fishing without a rod licence and taking, destroying or attempting to destroy or take fish from a private fishing pool or place with private fishing rights.

The case against Narutis was proved in his absence and he was fined £345 in total, while Rumjaceus pleaded guilty and was fined £500. They were both ordered to pay costs and victim surcharge totalling £157.47.

Mihails Rumjaceus, 44, of Talke Road, Walsall, pleaded guilty to wilful obstruction of a fisheries bailiff, fishing without a licence and failing to give his name and address to the bailiff. He was fined £375 and ordered to pay costs and victim surcharge totalling £280.

Cheltenham magistrates heard on Monday (25 February 2019) that the 3 men were out fishing together at Mythe Pool, Tewkesbury on 28 July last year when they were caught. Magistrates granted an order for all the angling equipment the 3 men had to be forfeited.

The New 2019 Environment Agency Fishing licences feature Bream and mirror carp

Renowned angling and wildlife artist David Miller painted the bream and mirror carp images which will appear on the new Environment Agency issued fishing rod licences with the bream on the 2 rod coarse and

trout licence, a mirror carp on the 3 rod licence.

Angling is one of the most popular participation sports in England. A million fishing licences were sold in 2017/2018 raising £23 million. In this last full year, sales of fishing licences funded 350,000 fish being restocked into rivers, responding to 797 fisheries incidents and installing 37 fish passes amongst other things.

Bream is a fish which shoals in large numbers which makes them a traditional favourite of match anglers and can often make the difference between a poor and a good day for match anglers and pleasure anglers alike.

Carp is now one of the most popular species amongst anglers and the mirror carp is actually the same species as the fully scaled Common Carp and its unusual scale pattern is the result of selective breeding over a considerable period of time.
