The decision – which took many match anglers by surprise – was made jointly by Matchroom Sport, the Angling Trust and Sky TV. Dean Luker, Angling Trust Competitons, hopes the change will help to breathe new life into the high-profile event.
“The final will be on Falcon Lake, a horseshoe-shaped pool offering something different to Hayfield,” he said.
In addition to the change in venue, there will no longer be a separate Nxtgen event for young anglers. Instead, there will be a ‘golden ticket’ on offer to the winner of the Youth and Junior Nationals in 2022, granting them a spot in the Fish O’ final.
“This is an exciting change, offering a young angler a shot at one of fishing’s biggest events,” Dean added.
