This is your opportunity to get behind the campaign and help introduce new people into fishing or help get people back into the sport.
Whether it is running a Get Fishing taster day at your club or fishery, an open day at your tackle shop or providing a discount on day tickets, we want to hear from you. To support your activity we are working on a number of exclusive resources and assets including poster templates, social media animations and a toolkit for you to use to help promote your activity.
This year’s campaign sees the launch of a new online registration process that will encourage the public to be a part of National Fishing Month. By Signing Up, the public will be able to access a free pack of resources including a Get into Fishing booklet, fish information wall chart and fishing log book. Registered people will also receive regular email updates throughout National Fishing Month with information on all the activities and offers taking place, links to local fishing venues as well as top tips on how to get fishing.
This is a fantastic opportunity for your organisation to be a part of a summer full of activity, giving a whole new generation the chance to get into the sport we all love. For more information on how you can get involved in National Fishing Month in 2022, please visit: www.nationalfishingmonth.com
Last year, the Environment Agency sold 1,090,068 individual freshwater fishing licences to adults living in England, compared to 1,019,723 in the previous year 2019/20. This boom in sales has allowed the Environment Agency to fund even more vital restoration work to protect fish stocks, increase biodiversity, create and restore over 3,000 hectares of fisheries habitat, and sustain a healthier water environment. Thanks to rod licence income, in the last year the Environment Agency has opened up or improves habitats for fish on 575 kilometres (km) of rivers and enhanced 153 hectares (ha) of stillwater fisheries.

About National Fishing Month
The Angling Trades Association created this initiative to encourage more people to get a taste for fishing. It works in partnership with the Angling Trust, Environment Agency and Canal & River Trust.
The Environment Agency is asking people across England and Wales to give fishing a go this National Fishing Month (1st-31st August 2022), which is back again this year and bigger than ever – celebrating the surging popularity of the sport among beginners during the pandemic. A series of events across the country will aim to get more people involved in the sport that’s surged in popularity since lockdown.
It’s a chance to get out in nature, have fun, spend time with others or relax on your own. Steps have been taken to improve inclusivity, with a calendar that features family-friendly and wheelchair-accessible events. Everyone is welcome – find a free event near them at nationalfishingmonth.com
