Dudley Council has decided the pursuit can return to the beauty spot off Mucklow Hill early next year.
Paul Thomas and Dr John Tate launched a campaign calling for the four fishing platforms at Priory Pool to be restored.
The council said it suspended angling access following bank erosion, littering and night fishing by a small group of irresponsible anglers.
But despite the opposition of the park’s friends group, councillor Tracy Wood, cabinet member for environment and culture, said she would meet with anglers representatives in January and then announce the reintroduction of fishing at the site. She said: “The Leasowes is a beautiful historic landscape and it’s important it feels accessible to all whether dog walkers, bird watchers, golfers, anglers, or just families enjoying a day out.
“Thanks to the support of responsible anglers during the temporary suspension, the delicate balance of the pools has been restored.”
Paul Thomas said he was “absolutely delighted” at the move. He said: “We want to work with the wardens and the friends group to ensure a safe, secure, well supervised community provision.”
Mr Thomas said work such as the reinstatement of the tops of the fishing pegs and clearing of bushes would have to take place before fishing could restart.
