Cudmore Fisheries will be the centre of attention weekend as the world's best anglers compete for the £30,000 top prize in Fish O' Mania. The Whitmore-based fishery will again host the 16 finalists bid for the title. |
The finalists had to beat off competition from 2,500 entrants in a series of
qualifying events to book their place at Cudmore and will do battle over five
hours next Saturday.
Last year's champion Jamie Hughes, from the Wirral, will aim to be the first
man in the history of the event to defend his crown.
Steve Cooke is also hoping to add his name to the history books as the 1999 champion bids to become only the second angler ever to lift the Fish O'Mania crown twice.
Get Hooked on Fishing will also be on hand throughout the weekend to offer coaching as well as have-a-go opportunities to kids and adults alike.
Barry Hearn, chairman of sponsors Matchroom Sport, said: "Fish O'Mania is a unique British sporting summer event and there is so much for everyone to enjoy.
"Anyone who hasn't experienced the excitement of the event should come along."
Gates open at 10am on both days, with the action starting at noon.
It's live on Sky Sports 3 HD from Noon.
