Fishermen Paul Thomas and Dr John Tate are delighted their campaign to return the pursuit to The Leasowes, off Mucklow Hill, has been successful.
The pair, who compiled a petition with more than 300 names, met with councillor Tracey Wood, Dudley Council’s cabinet member for the environment, Halesowen councillor Hilary Bills and Leasowes head warden Antony Ravenscroft when the date was agreed.
Mr Thomas said: “It was a very positive meeting where a lot of progress was made. We agreed the four fishing pegs will be restored and fishing will begin again on June 16. It’s brilliant - it will be free fishing which is great for youngsters.
The wardens are going to get on board to give out cards with regulations so that we can get positive involvement.”
The keen angler said the Leasowes wardens had been very helpful - as had councillors Tracey Wood and Hilary Bills. He also thanked leader of the council David Sparks for meeting them.
Cllr Bills said plans to improve the quality of the pool were also in the pipeline.
She said: “I think the park is for everyone and it has been fished for many years and i think the anglers have as much right to use it as everyone else.”
