Tactics:
Bigger roach to float fished caster or hemp; bread and squatt are also good baits. Chub can show in a few areas, halfway along the Bonkey Meadow is as good as anywhere- try a bit of chopped worm and caster; decent perch can also be caught on the same tactic. Odd bream can turn up anywhere but there's a shoal of them just through the railway bridge, they can be caught on most baits. Plenty of small fish to squatt, pinkie or punched bread. Good Swims: Any of the many reed beds will produce roach, to most baits including hemp. |

How to get there......
From Stafford take the A34 heading towards Cannock or Rugeley. Cross the bridge over the River Penk and go up Radford Bank. At the top of the bank keep left, onto the A513, then turn immediately left at the roundabout into Baswich Lane. Keep on here until you reach Farmdown Road on your left. Turn into Farm down Road and follow the white line as it turns and twist. At the T junction with Fairview Way turn right and park sensibly on the grass verge near the bridge. |
