Spring Lea Fishery

Opened in 1991 the privately owned Spring Lea Fishery is set in the stunning Shropshire countryside just six miles from the historic town of Shrewsbury. There are five pools- Kingfisher, Horseshoe, Mallard, Orfe and Trevors - offering a range of fishing to suit anyone from the vastly experienced to the raw novice. They are all similarly stocked with carp of varying sizes, the bigger ones nudge the 25 lb mark, bream and tench to 6 lb, orfe to 4 lb, perch to 31b 8 oz, roach and rudd to 2 lb 8oz, ide to 2 lb plus the occasional huge eel. There are facilities for touring and static caravans too.

Tactics:
Float fishing is successful here, although you can always try leg ering two grains of corn, a chunk of luncheon meat or a large pellet to any of the islands for larger carp. On the float the best baits tend to be pellet, corn, meat, bread or plain and simple maggot. All hook baits are best fished over fishery pellet feed with a few free 'hook bait' samples mixed in to. Good Swims: The feature swims and there are plenty. The margins can also produce well, more so later in your session. |

Disabled access- disabled anglers only can take their cars to the water's edge if ground conditions allow.
Barbless hooks only. Fishery own feed pellets only. No fish over 2 lb in keepnets. No boilies. No surface fishing.
No night fishing. Toilet facilities. Food available.
How to get there....
Come off the Shrewsbury bypass (A5) and take the A488 towards Bishop's Castle. Pass Hanwood then the Lea Cross Tavern on your left. After a further 0.25 miles turn left signed Plealey. The fishery is down here on your right. Drive through the yard and follow the track to the car park and pools. |
