Description:
With 50 pegs of prime barbel river on the left-hand bank, this stretch of the middle Severn offers plenty of action.
Trees overhang much of the length, with swims suitable for both float and feeder fishing. Suitable for those who have difficulty walking, although some swims need to be climbed into. A few swims have wooden platforms.
The barbel average 5lb. with the bigger fish around 12lb. Other species include pike 20lb, chub to 6lb, perch to 4lb, roach to 2lb, dace to 12oz. Barbel nets totalling 60lb are possible in good conditions.
The Hampton Loade section is ¾ mile long. The first field and two meadows (1000yds) are available to day ticket anglers and there is a 400yd section below this that is reserved for members only. A sign denotes this boundary. Day ticket anglers are not allowed past the sign.
The bailiff regularly patrols and can offer up to date information should the angler need a bit of guidance with methods or swims. The river changes daily and our bailiff has years of experience reading the moods of the water so knows it better than most.

Tactics:
Fishing in coloured water with meat, paste and pellets will bring excellent sport. At other times, fishing over depth with a waggler and strong tackle, plus plenty of loose fed maggots, casters or corn will bring mixed bags, including barbel, in depths to 12ft.
The shallower, upstream swims in Top Meadow fish well in the summer, but include Hampton many deeper holes, perfect for rolling meat. The deeper pegs downstream in the third meadow are good later in the season. Float fishing big pieces of bread or link legering crust under the tree line will pick off chub.
