Lower Lake
This is the largest of the four pools and is the first pool you arrive at once you have driven up the main track. At 7.5 acres consisting of 18 pegs this pool was formally called the speci pool. Due to low water levels caused by a leak in the dam wall this pool has been netted and had a lot of its stock transferred to the runs water. Depths near to the dam wall range from 9ft gradually levelling off at around five feet when full heading towards the island where the shallow water attracts large numbers of carp in the summer months. Of the 18 pegs four of these are double pegs which offers the chance for two people to fish together. This pool has marginal reeds and a few pot beds along the road bank, fish are often caught along the dam wall where the marginal shelf just drops off into the deeper water. This pool contains the higher stocking levels of pike which can be fished for between October and March.
The Meadow Pool
This pool at 5.5 acres is situated to the left of the car park and consists of 20 pegs and was formally known as the runs water. Many of the original stock of commons can be found here along with a healthy stock of new fish and fish transferred from the old speci pool. There are estimated to be close on 1400 fish with approx 40 twenties of which a handfull are nearing the 30lb mark. Thera are also approx 30 catfish which have been removed from the old speci pool which run to 47lb. This tree lined pool has average depths of 5 feet and has an abundance of features incuding a small island, marginal reeds, lilly pads and pot beds, which is why our long term aims are to turn this water into the speci pool with lower stocking levels to provide the remaining stock with the chance to gain weight. Of the 20 pegs there are five pegs which could accommodate two people each.
Pleasure Pool
Situated close to the car park this pool is a favourite for the match fishermen, at about three quarters of an acre and consisting of approx 14 pegs. This pool was supposed to be a stock pond but it became increasingly popular with novice anglers who could always guarentee to catch large numbers of fish leaving them to go home happy. With depths only averaging 3 feet it has become an easy water to fish and the species on offer include carp to 8lb, Approx 1000 small carp to 1.5lbs, bream to 6lb, tench to 4lb, roach to 2lb, perch to 3lb and few of the original stock of crucian carp.
Match Pool
This pool was dug 18 months ago and is situated at the end of the complex and utilises the old canal section which had become overgrown and unfishable for the past few years. This pool is netted off from the main pool and is a favourite for match fishermen who want the chance of catching a few lumps upto 18lb aswell as the abundance of smaller fish on offer aswell. It consists of 18 pegs and has an average depth of 3.5 feet, the far bank is lined with reeds. This pool has already produced massive bags of fish to the anglers who are not put off by the walk, and on weekends there should be no problems with a ride on the quad bike.
New Speci Pool
There is a 2.5acre speci pool which forms the shallow end of the lake. There are 6 pegs which a couple will cater for 2 anglers. The silt has been taken out and depths up to 6 feet can now be found. A stock of 100 plus fish which have been transferred from the old speci now exists. 21 of these fish are 20lb plus going up to a common of 30lb 2oz. Catfish go to 32lb. The majority of the remaining fish are 17- 19 lb stockies. The cost to fish this water is £8 per day and £16 for 24 hours. Priority on weekends will be given to anglers doing 24 hours or more.
