Tactics:
Simple approaches work best. with corn , luncheon meat. worms and hard pellets all good baits for the carp. Swims on the dam wall fish well, especially those away from the road, where there 's only 4-5ft of water. Casting a running Ieger along the margins and introducing a handful of freebies should bring action, or try stalking several swims with a lobworm cast tight to the side. Swims facing the island are also very good, casting tight with small PVA bags of pellets and an 8 mm banded pellet hook bait. Regular catapult-loads of 8 mm pellets will draw in smaller carp for instant sport. For silver fish try whip and maggot feeding quite heavily to get through the hordes of hand-sized skimmers and into better quality. Good Swims: Casting to the point of the island from the south bank. |
