The Kingfisher Pool
The 'in' baits: Corn- Pellet - Worm and Caster - Maggot
The well thought out pool, shaped in a kind of horseshoe shape with an island in the middle. The pool, which is constantly stocked with all species of fish, holds 32 anglers.
The pool holds an excellent stock of carp in all sizes from 2lb to 5lb marks, which are excellent weight builders in a match situation. The bigger specimens in the pool boast the 15 lb mark plus the pool holds hundreds of 10 pounders. By any means you'll know once you've hooked one of these fin specimens, in mint of condition, because of you tingling arm ache! These carp are often caught on pellet and corn approach but persevere with any method or bait and you will be in for a long hard fight.
The crucian carp are caught at the closest and shallowest water, known to be the shallowest of 12 inches. You can catch these fish on float fished corn or double maggot, being the best two baits to use. The tench in the pool average the 3lb mark bit the biggest to date is an 8 pounder. When the carp are not feeding, these tench will no doubt give you a 30 lb no problem at all. the tench are in the finest of condition and always offer an exhilarating fight right to the net. The best method to catch these slimy fish is to float fish an expander pellet at about five meters.
Crucian carp are stocked into the pool in high numbers and substantially boosted the weights by a considerable amount. recent open matches anglers have managed up to 35lb of these 8oz-1lb fish. This is a massive achievement by any standards.
Apart from the main species in the pool i.e. the carp and the tench, there are plenty of silverfish to be targeted. There are plenty of bream in the pool averaging 6lb apiece. There is also a big head of skimmers in the pool, which are regularly, caught at 6oz a fish. The bream in the pool have recently been caught in high numbers on macaroni cheese on a float method. Apart from this bait the bream and skimmers will come to the net one after another on worm corn and expander pellet.
Recently some big roach, perch and chub have been captured from the lake and were said to be edging the 2lb mark, which in this case is specimen hunting! This is a massive bonus to the fishery and you could easily amass 25lb of silverfish without even trying, that’s just how good this pool is to fish. These magnificent silverfish are often caught high up in the water using a delicate float and using caster hook bait, constantly firing a pinch full around the float. These fish will be small to begin with but as the feed keeps going in you will get into some better fish.

The Heron Pool
The Heron pool is available for pleasure and club matches but is always receiving complements of how well its fishing and what fine, pristine condition the fish are in. The pool holds 24 anglers with ease and they all have plenty of room.
The pool is stuffed full of 2-3lb carp which are caught week in week out but still offer an exhilarating fight to the net. The bigger 'lumps' in the pool, which run from 6-18lb, will give you the hardest battle you've ever had with a carp. You are guaranteed arm ache after catching one of these fish.
The Heron pool holds alot of tench. Its never been heard of catching a tench smaller than 2lb. The tench, although being super slimy, put up a magnificent fight, and will never give up, even once they're in the net. The tench in this pool go up to 7lb but recently its heard of some 8 pound giants being caught from the pool which is amazing.
There are an abundance of bream and skimmers in the pool and you cannot go a fishing session without hooking one of these greedy fish. The skimmers are about 8oz apiece but there are some larger ones in amongst them but the bream however go to 5 lb and there are lots of them. When you hook one you know that others will follow.
The Heron Pool is one of the most heavily stocked silverfish pools around it holds that many quality 1lb roach, gudgeon and some of the biggest perch ever seen. If you hit them right on the right day you could easily amass a 50 lb net of silverfish!

The Mallard Pool
The mallard pool is the highest pool on the four-pool fishery and offers a lot of good fishing to be had by all. The pool has handed out many of 50lb bags in matches and the record for the pool being near the 100lb mark. This is a tremendous pool and will give you a lot of pleasure and fun.
The pool is stocked with a lot of small 'stockie' carp these feature a lot in the match weights and they run from 8oz to 1 lb these fish are often caught on a soft expander pellet over the top of a bed of micro pellets, which are brought on site. The slightly bigger carp run from 1 lb 8oz right through to 4 lb these fish can easily be tamed on the right, balanced set up and can be superb match building fish. The bigger specimens in the pool are from 6lb to, the biggest to date, 19 lb, which is a massive achievement, which was incidentally caught in a match on a pole! Although this is the biggest fish to date there are some much bigger specimens which are about 20 lb these fish haven't been caught to date but could be in the near future.
This pool, like the others is also rammed full of tench which are in the most fantastic condition. The tench in this pool start at about 1 lb and run right through to 5 lb with, in amongst the others some 6 lb beauties. These fish are often coming in the net to a single grain of corn hook bait but have recently been coming one-a-chuck to a soft expander tipped with a red maggot. These fish can easily be handled on rod and line or the right set up of a pole, either way they are fantastic fish to catch. These fish do not shoal up but do tend to come one after another if the feeding is correct and they usually prefer a bed of micro pellets to graze over before picking up your hook bait.
This pool like the others is stuffed with the crucian carp. These little 8oz fish are perfect for building a match winning net of fish or even fine fish for the pleasure angler to enjoy. These fish do run from 8oz but you do tend to catch the bigger crucians later on in your session and these do go to 1 lb and they are fine fish to catch. These fish like the majority of the other fish like the soft expander pellets but also enjoy the maggots which after a while may become frustrating if you're after silvers as there are so many crucian in the pool that the carp have to bully hordes of them out of the swim just to get a look in at the free offerings. These are a great asset to the fishery and make the match weights increasingly higher than other fisheries.
Although the pool is stuffed full of carp the Mallard also offers silver- fisherman's delight, as there are so many good roach to be had. The roach in the pool now are said to be at least 1 lb and they are often caught and aren't shy to feed, at any time of the day. The beautiful fish are never targeted but are always turning up in angler's nets and they never take into consideration just how big the fish actually are. These quality roach usually come to the double red maggot or caster, when fishing shallow and usually are caught in about 12 inches of water.
These greedy, pristine fish are usually at least 8 oz a piece and there are known to be some bigger chub being caught in the summertime one of them being 2 lbs. The chub offer a reliability to be caught through the wintertime and substantially boost the weights in the matches when anglers can easily bag a big 20 lb net of chub throughout five hours. These chub are truly mind-blowing and if brought into consideration, in the winter months, you could be bagging a fish every put in.
The pool comfortably holds twelve anglers with ease and offers the best fishing, even when full. The pegs are equally spaced out and offer plenty of room for the angler with all the gear and will allow him to maneuver comfortably without disturbing others. The pool is regularly open to the club angler and influentially it was a club angler who holds the record on the pool, which is a very good weight.

The Coot Pool
The pool is stuffed full of the little 8oz- 1 lb carp and they are always looking for food as the pool is very deep and warm. These smaller carp are usually caught on corn fished over micro pellet but be prepared as you could hook a much bigger fish! The slightly bigger carp in the pool 2 lb- 5lb are often caught from the pool and offer a breathtaking fight, right to the net. These fish are mainly caught shallow from the pool, as the pool is so deep and the carp look for warmer water, this is a great way of catching a big net of fish.
The bigger specimens in the pool go to a whopping 25 lb but are rarely caught but when you do hook one, you’ll know about it. The pool also offers another load of tench to catch a big net of.
These fish were only recently stocked as the pool, at one time, only held carp. But know these tench are in they haven’t stopped feeding ever since. They go from 1lb right through to the biggest being about 5 lbs and these fish put up a spirited fight, no matter how small they are. You can often catch these fish, one after another, on double corn as the colour attracts them very well.
Again this pool holds another big head of crucian carp that are anything from 6oz to 2lb. These fish have now settled and are now regularly being caught by the pleasure anglers. The fish are usually caught on half of an expander pellet and they hardly need any feed, maybe one handful of pellets after every 10 fish or so. This is brilliant, as you don't need a tonne of bait to catch fish.
The pool isn't pegged out as such, which means you can fish anywhere you like around the pool. This is fantastic if you like a lot of space. Starting from the top right corner of the pool the depth is around 6 feet and is very flat, apart from in the margins, the depth drops to 6 feet after the second shelf and doesn’t get much deeper until you go right to the middle of the pool. The margins, in places hold small patches of overhanging plants that dangle in the water and the carp are often under these plants looking for food.
As you move along the bank there are hardly any margin features at all and as the water is so crystal clear its best to do the majority of your fishing in open water anyway. All along the bank right up to the corner of the pool again is around 6 feet, 7 feet in specific places and again there is a lot of depth in the middle of the pool. As the water is so deep in these pegs it is often useful to set up a ledger rod as if the fish are on the bottom it is easier to catch them. The other corner peg on the pool is around the same depth as the bank that it runs across but does offer marginal cover if it is needed
The other bank on the pool, the left bank, is very similar to the right bank as it has two corners, the same but the depth is rather different as it shallows up to about 5 feet. Although this side is shallower it offers the advantage of being able to present a bait on the bottom, correctly, using a float. The corner pegs on this side are both very good as the one has a lot of features to fish to: a water pipe and reeds and the other is down a ditch, lower to the water, out of the wind. Both pegs fish fantastically well as they are both of the pegs that anglers most want. The depth is all very similar along this bank, about 5 feet and dramatically dropping to around 12 feet in the middle.
